Different Trims Offer Different Engines

Both the 2013 and 2014 Ford Mustang come with four available trim options. The V6 and the V6 Premium make use of a 3.7L V6 that can produce 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The GT and GT premium trims upgrade to a 5.9L V8 that puts out 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but you have the option to go with an automatic that offers manual shift control.

Independent testing revealed that, no matter what engine or transmission you go with, your Mustang is going to be able to move. According to Edmunds, a?V6-powered Mustang that had been upgraded with the performance package went 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds. Edmunds clocked the V8-powered Mustang with the manual transmission from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds.

Special Packages Available

If you are looking for a driving experience that is second to none, these Mustang models have two available packages that enhance and fine-tune them to burn up the road. The GT track package adds Brembo brakes, performance axles, an extra radiator, and extra capabilities for engine oil cooling. The performance package adds 19-inch wheels with summer tires, a number of suspension and brake upgrades, a recalibrated stability control system, and a 3.31 rear axle ratio.
