Ford celebrated its debut in the Middle East and Africa with a 2015 Ford Mustang build event on the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The event was broadcast live on YouTube and ended with Bill Ford putting the iconic pony badge on the front of the yellow roadster. Let’s take a closer look about how they pulled off this amazing stunt!
The journey started in Arizona with an anonymous hero receiving an urgent call. They then raced on horseback, in a plane, car, helicopter, and jet ski to Dubai to bring the pony badge to the yellow mustang on the 112th floor of the Burj Khalifa. At the end, the hero was revealed as Henry Ford’s great-grandson and Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford. The event told the story of Ford’s iconic history in America leading up to a new following in the Middle East and Africa. Ford will launch 25 vehicles in the region by 2016, including the all-new Mustang.
How They Did It
It wasn’t as simple as delivering the 2015 Ford Mustang on a freight elevator. A team of expert professionals worked for 12 hours to construct the Mustang on the deck of the 112th floor. In a timelapse video of the build, the group starts with a blank floor and meticulously adds each piece of the Mustang until the full product is proudly standing with Dubai’s skyline behind it.
The 2015 Mustang
The all-new Mustang is the most refined model of the historic vehicle yet, with class-leading driver-assist technology and advanced engine performance. The new turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3L engine and available 5.0L V8 pack up to 420 hp. The design is a sleek revival of the iconic Mustang fastback and convertible style.
